Among the new projects starting in 2024, a group led by Dr. Ken Maeda of Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) had a survey from November 21 to December 1 in the Philippines. Please take a look at the new item, "Preliminary survey to establish collaborative research on freshwater and estuarine fish fauna of the Philippines: Toward elucidation of the larval dispersal mechanism of diadromous fish along the Kuroshio Current" added to Projects in Progress of Our Projects.

On 7 October, we held a brainstorming meeting at the NEF office to consider the current and future projects. Participants were Drs. Midori Kawabe and Masanori Doi (Directors), Dr. Kenji Fukuyama (Councillor), Dr. Akiko Yamamoto (Expert), Dr. Masaaki Yoneda (member of the NEF Selection Committee), and four staff members. We received valuable opinions and suggestions regarding the Research Grant Scheme, CGF Programme, nature conservation projects, and new projects. We will use these opinions and suggestions to improve the NEF’s projects and management in the future.
