From August 25 to September 11, the team of Professor Masaharu Motokawa (Kyoto University) invited two collaborators each from Laos and Vietnam. On August 29th, Professor Dr. Masaharu Motokawa (Kyoto University) and six collaborating researchers from Lao PDR and Vietnam visited the NEF office after their research in Vietnam. The results of their research so far were summarized, and we exchanged opinions on future cooperation.

On 14 August, the review committee of Nagao Wetland Fund (NWF) was held. The review committee members were Dr. Kenji Fukuyama, a council member of NEF, and Dr. Midori Kawabe and Dr. Masanori Doi, directors of NEF. The NWF was established in 2016 by NEF and the Ramsar Convention Secretariat. At the review committee, we received valuable opinions and suggestions regarding the budget and activities. We will use these opinions to improve the management of the NWF in the future.

The team of Prof. M. Motokawa (Kyoto Univ.) and Associate Prof. S. Tagane (Kagoshima Univ.) met at the National Univ. of Laos on March 23, 2024 (photo below). The Motokawa team held seminars in Vietnam and Laos, and the Tagane team conducted research in Laos. Activities of both the teams will be reported soon.

Dr Huynh Quang Thien, Director of Center for Zoological Research and Conservation at Southern Institute of Ecology, Ho Chi Minh City, visited our office on 5 March 2024. Dr Makoto Komoda, Executive Director of NEF, met him for a meeting. Dr Huynh was one of our grant recipients in 2016. He shared his research endeavors after receiving the grant to date. We also exchanged information on NEF's grant opportunities available for researchers and students in Vietnam.
Dr Phetlasy Souladeth, who received funding from the CGF programme in 2018, published a paper; the information of which being listed in Recently Awarded & Deliverables.

Secretary-General Kumiko Suzuki and Programme Officer Tomoko Oizumi visited Vietnam and Cambodia from 21 to 28 January 2024 to exchange information with persons in charge of NEF scholarship. Exchanges of opinions were held with representatives from the Central Institute for Natural Resources and Environmental Studies, Vietnam National University (VNU-CRES) in Hanoi, the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) in Phnom Penh, and other institutions.
Following a survey in Lao PDR from August to September 2023, a team led by Associate Prof. Shuichiro Tagane of Kagoshima University had conducted a survey in Vietnam in late December 2023. On December 18th, 2023, we received an email report on last year's activity results from Dr. Beom-Sik Yoo, Senior Advisor Asia/Oceania of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands Secretariat. Some of these are listed in Other Grant Opportunity.
Dr Gizelle Akiate Batomalaque has published a poster "Non-marine mollusks of Batanes Islands." It is an output from his research on "Biodiversity and conservation assessment of non-marine mollusks of the Batanes Group of Islands, Philippines" funded by Research Grant Programme 2021. NEF Bangladesh Committee held a student's workshop at Sher-e-Bangla Agriculture University on 11 February 2023. Bangladeshi students and faculty members from five universities gathered, and representatives of the scholarship students from each university presented the current state of the country's natural environment and conservation measures.
